My kids do more cooking/baking for the summer. We get out kid cookbooks from the library for ideas.

What a great idea! I am always looking for ways to amuse the kids on rainy days. I also liked the idea of holding a Father's Day craft day for kids. I volunteered to assist a kindergarten class make Mother's Day cards and didn't even think about the poor Dad's! LOL!

The summertime projects that I do always include one of my favorite things to do for the kids in our neighborhood. I set up a crafting station in my living room and do a free Father's Day class for the kids that have no father around but would like to present someone with a gift. They can make the project for whomever they would like. This year the kids made them for their Mom (thanking them for being both Mom and Dad), to their Stepdad, their Mom's boyfriend, their uncle, a teacher and a friend's Dad.
This year we took 3 coasters and tied them together. On one side was the word "DAD'. Each coaster had one letter. On the other side they added pictures, quotes, stickers and everything else that I picked up for them to do this project.
The children always love doing this free class I do each year. And I always enjoy how heartwarming it actually is for the kids giving the circumstances they are in.
