I recently purchased a Brother SE400 so that I could experiment with a little embroidery.  I have yet to really make anything using the built in designs or the many designs that I have downloaded into my machine.  One day I will give it a try.  But for right now I am just working on completing a few patterns that I have started. And of course, buying more patterns when they are on sale or purchasing more fabric then I will probably ever use but loved it so much in the fabric store.  Welcome to the site!

I also joined the site to find a sewing community to belong to . I like machine embroidery, quilting, garment sewing and home dec. Hope to connect with others who love sewing as much as I do.... Hard to find people to connect with. Also looking for online classes for embroidery. Any info?

Love the colors and the fabric choices you used.  I loved when my daughters were young and no matter what I made for them they loved it.  Now they are young ladies and they have their own opinions. LOL.  Will be sure to check out your blog.

Thank you sewing friends for the compliments on my son's quilt.  Sorry for the late response, but I'm not on this site much.  As far as a quilt pattern goes, there's not much to it.  Simply decide how large you want your squares to be and calculate how many you need according to the size of the bed you wish the quilt to cover.  I used blue fabric with printed stars so there was no need to applique or embroider individual stars.  Then I strip pieced the rest of the sections together and added them to the blue section.  You can put your blocks on point or in straight rows.  I put my quilt sandwich together and then machine embroidered the blank blocks with large stars.  The quilt has the usual folded over binding.  It really is a very simple quilt and I'm sure even the newest of quilters could make it.  Have fun!

I love hearing designers, seamstresses and others in the field how they got their start.  It's very inspirational.  Thanks Joi!
