This is for Butler. I actually had the same thing happen multiple times. I made a muslin and I got it to fit perfectly. Then I sewed the garment in a linen thinking it would mimic the muslin. But, on fitting it was quite loose. I'm thinking that the linen is a looser weave than the muslin so that might be why there was such a difference in fit. It was rather disappointing because I could not make any adjustments with the fabric already cut out. This has happened several times so I'm starting to rethink my use of muslin as a fabric for test garments.
I have made changes within the site, one big one is that I need to approve the comments before publishing. This may be what is happening. If I approve the comments I can filter out spam comments. Do you eventually see the posts?
Recently I have been unable to see posts . I can read them under the "Recent Comments and Replies" column but I do not see them when I go to the original posts. I have tried a few different browsers but they are all the same. Is it me or does others have this problem?
I was so glad to see your post. I am making jeans for a lady and the muslin fit like a glove - but alas the jeans were like 2 sizes too big. If someone lets you know why this happens please be sure to post it. I even used really good/heavy muslin thinking that it should be the same weight as the jean fabric.
I ordered this amazing dress pattern from the 40s on ebay and the seller sent me a "how to alter" vintage patterns to modern sizing. It was an amazing help! I believe he sells just the booklet - and if I recall correctly it was really inexpensive.
My biggest challenge is sewing for my oldest daughter. She has a very large bust (42 DD ) but her waist is much smaller than most patterns that come in that breast size. She is also petite in height and so everything is out of proportion. I can't tell you how many articles, tutorials and books I have read on this subject but I still can't get the changes right. Needless to say every project I being for her usually ends up hanging on my dressform, taunting me to finish it but I am so discouraged that I dont. Right now my fitting nemisis is a cute little equestrian type jacket from Vogue, V8333. All I can say is ggrrrr....
i have tried many places on line ..mostly i like FABRIC.COM good prices and i like that the swatches are photographed with a ruler ..so you can see the size of the pattern on the fabric
to me this is the best way to buy fabric on line ... lots of places don't give you enough info on the fabric so you can buy with trust....... my only pet pev with FABRIC.COM is when ordering FUR call them and make shure they package the fur in a pplastic bag and that they don't use you cut of FUR as a dust mop... i had a whole order ..contaimenated with the FUR cause the people did not clean their table of dust and other FUR leftovers when they cut the FUR and when they box up your order ..... not good to order regular fabric with FUR i had to wash my whole order ..and then had to get a PRO to clean out the machine of all the FUR particles very frustrating ......so i had to learn ........i was my fabrics in the washer .and then wash my fur in the sink ....
PS: this dosent mean i don't like FUR or FABRIC.COM....
