Advice on purchasing a dress form

2 replies [Last post]

I'm a new member here so if this topic has been covered, I apologize...

I have been looking to purchase a dress form but there are so many types and ranges of quality that I am overwhelmed with trying to make a decision.

I am a home sewer, not a professional, and I sew mostly for myself. I am a hard-to-fit body type (big build, tall, long arms, thick shoulders, etc.) and really want a good quality form. I realize I am going to have to spend a few hundred dollars, but it would be worth it to me. I bought a "cheap" one ($129) several years ago - it was flimsy plastic with a nappy nylon coating ~ adjustments were a disaster and it was so lightweight it tipped over very easily. I ended up throwing it out.

I am hoping to get an adjustable one because I would like to use it for my daughter as well. (Plus it would be good just in case my body shape changes...lol!)

Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks so much!

Hi birdies1219,

My Aunt has been sewing for over 30 years and was the manager of a Jo-Anns but wanted to make her own business of making Children and baby clothing. So she made a Etsy account and has been making clothing and posting it on there to sell. Her dresses arent as expencive as the one you bought they are around the $20 range. She is also willing to do special orders.

So if your interested or want to go check her Products out go to:

Hope you find what your looking for! :)
