Bridal sewing

5 replies [Last post]

Hi folks, does anyone know of anything other than elastic bridal loops to use to hold down the buttons on the back of a wedding  gown? I have been asked to add buttons down the back but the Bride doesn't like the look of elastic, and there is quite a lot of them to hand crochet all the loops.

I was thinking I could put small clear snaps here and there to hold down the zipper placket.

thanks

I have seen at some bridal shops the looped material that they sell by the yard. I used that when I made my older daughters wedding dress.  The fabric store I go to now has it with all the other trimmings. Hope this helped and you can find some.

Make fabric loops.  Quite a bit of work trying to turn the loops, but it does work.  The only thing I would do different if I did it again is to sew them together in a row before adding them to the dress:  More flexibility of keeping them closer and the same width!
